What Moo Classic adds
Moo Classic plays like the MU you remember, with the original's look, rules, monsters and pace. We built a lot on top of it. This page lists what the original Season 0 to 2 game never had. For each one it says what the original did, what Moo Classic does, and why we changed it.
One game on every device
Moo Classic has its own client, built from scratch. It runs in the browser, on Android, Windows, Mac and Linux. The iPhone and iPad app is coming; until then an iPhone plays in the browser.
True cross-platform
OriginalA Windows PC game.
Moo ClassicEvery device plays on the same servers with the same account. A player on a phone, one on a PC and one in a browser hunt the same field, party, trade and chat together. Your Moo Gold and Golden Member are on every character and device, and news you have read stays read everywhere.
WhyPlay wherever you are, with everyone else.
Play in the browser
OriginalA large install before you can play.
Moo ClassicOpen the page and play. The game downloads what it needs behind the loading screen. Next time it downloads only what changed. It keeps playing when you switch to another tab.
WhyNothing should stand between a player and the game.
Apps that update themselves
OriginalA launcher patches before you play.
Moo ClassicThe Windows, Mac and Linux apps update themselves before they log in, with a progress bar. An Android phone downloads and installs its new version in the app. A new build is offered again before you reconnect.
WhyEveryone plays the same version, so a fix reaches every player at once.
Report a problem
OriginalNothing in the game.
Moo ClassicThe menu has a Report a problem row that sends your note and your device to us. If the game crashes, it sends the crash report by itself, without a picture of your screen.
WhyOur testers play on phones far from us. A report that arrives by itself tells us what broke.
A phone client built for fingers

Touch controls of our own
OriginalNo phone version.
Moo ClassicA stick walks. A big button uses the skill on your bar, with three slots of its own beside it. Drag from a skill to aim it: the ground shows where a direction skill will go or where an area skill will land, and holding the drag keeps casting. A PvE / PvP switch picks your targets, and in PvP every button turns red and no monster is ever targeted. Pick-up, a basic attack and a Ping button sit under your thumbs. Swipe the bar down for a clear view. Hold a skill to read its card. Hold a player to trade, party or whisper. Double tap uses an item. The control icons are hand painted in MU's style.
WhyMU on a phone has to play as well as on a computer, not like a shrunk PC screen.
Small download, cool phone
Moo ClassicThe Android app carries the starter towns and fetches the rest while you play. Sound and music download only if you want them. There is a 32-bit app for older phones. Phones run at 30 frames a second and a lighter 3D resolution, and both can be raised in Options.
WhyA player told us their phone got too hot to hold after half an hour.
Classic hunting, fairer drops
The main world runs at the original's pace: 1x static experience, level 400, no resets. Monsters stand where the original put them, at its levels, and come back as fast. On top of that we rebuilt how drops roll.
Monsters as the original
OriginalThe classic spawns, levels and respawn times.
Moo ClassicThe same: monster places, levels, respawn times and item drop chances follow the original game's own tables, map by map.
WhyHunting should feel like the classic global servers, not a boosted private server.
Gear drops less repetitive
OriginalA monster's drop rolls straight from its item list.
Moo ClassicA monster's gear rolls its level first (+0 most often, +6 rarely), then picks evenly among the items of that level. Pets, Ale and Town Portal Scrolls are not as rare as jewels any more. Scrolls drop often enough to find, not enough to flood the market.
WhyOur test drops were "way too repetitive".
Boxes fair to every class
OriginalA box picks any item from its list.
Moo ClassicEvent boxes and the Box of Kundun pick a class first, then an item for it, so every class has the same chance of something it can use. A Box of Kundun always gives an excellent item or a +4 to +6 item with an option, never zen, and its excellent rings and pendants are rare prizes. Event boxes that give zen give 10,000 to 100,000.
WhyEvery class should open a box with the same hope. In our tests Knight and Wizard items came twice as often as Elf items.
Bosses that pay out
OriginalKanturu's bosses had no loot list anyone kept.
Moo ClassicMaya's hands and Nightmare in Kanturu drop jewels and Season 2 armour pieces. The strongest monsters of Kalima's seventh gate can drop the level 380 armours.
WhyA boss fight should end with a reward.
Hunt above your level
OriginalNo bonus for hunting far above your level.
Moo ClassicA monster far above your level gives more experience, up to half as much again. In a party, quest items go to the member whose quest needs them, and the monster's health bar shows for everyone fighting it.
WhyBrave hunting pays, and party play doesn't get in the way of quests.
New lands and new monsters
Two maps the original never had, and bosses made for Moo Classic.
Devias Wasteland
A frozen battlefield north of Devias, from level 30. Its own safe outpost (you wake there when you die), a frozen camp, a hidden Ruin Smith who sells what towns don't, a frozen lake and an old battlefield. Monsters grow stronger the farther you walk from the outpost.
Promiseland
An island you sail to from Lorencia's pier at level 60, with a voyage on the way. A caravan town and hundreds of monsters of its own. Lorencia's moored ships finally go somewhere.

Rare bosses of the Wasteland
OriginalBosses come back on a fixed timer.
Moo ClassicThe Yeti King and the Glacier Colossus, each with its own model, and the Aurora Queen and Frost Dragon come back after a random wait of hours or days, wherever they choose. They stomp everyone crowding round them. The player who did the most damage takes the loot, and an account that won a boss's special loot waits a day before it can win that boss's again.
WhyWe don't want the same people camping and monopolizing these drops. Big bosses belong to whoever is out hunting when they wake.
Golden events that reward being out there
The Golden Moo
Moo ClassicOur own event, twice a day. The Golden Moo appears on a random spot of Devias Wasteland and the Elite Golden Moo, with far more life, somewhere on Promiseland. A Moo lives until it is killed. Every hit pays experience sized to the hitter's level, so a level 50 and a level 350 both gain from joining, and the kill spills a heap of unequal zen piles. The server calls out the first blow, the stagger and the kill, crediting the top damage.
WhyA hunt the whole server can join: every level gets something worth having, and you have to go out and find it.
Golden invasions, without warning
OriginalGolden monsters come back on fixed timers.
Moo ClassicTwo golden invasions a day at random times, with no announcement. The golden monsters stay until they are killed, and the living ones move to a new place now and then.
WhyTo reward active play. Players who are online and hunting find them, not players who wait for a timer.
Summons, buffs and skills
Elf summons that fight
OriginalA summon stands beside the Elf and swings at what she attacks.
Moo ClassicA summon guards its Elf: it goes for whoever hits her first and holds them off her, then joins her fight, and it finds monsters near her by itself. The high summons use skills: Bali calls down Cometfall on groups, the Soldier shoots Triple Shot from range on every attack, the Dark Knight spins a Twisting Slash. The Elf's buffs on her summon grow far stronger with her Energy. A summon follows her to a new map and through Teleport, carries her name, and is never hit by her own attacks. The shops sell the Goblin and Stone Golem orbs; the higher orbs come from monsters.
WhyAn Elf with a high orb gets a real partner: it guards her, takes the monsters off her and adds real damage.
Buffs that grow with you
OriginalShort buffs that barely grow with your build.
Moo ClassicAn Elf's buffs grow stronger and last longer with Energy, to about three minutes. A Blade Knight's Swell Life lasts longer with all four of his stats. The tooltip shows how much a buff adds.
WhySwell Life was far too short. A built-up hero should feel built up.
Skills and weapons
Moo ClassicTeleport reaches farther. A Magic Gladiator can pair a one-handed staff with a sword. Axes and maces ask less Strength, spears without a skill get Lunge or Cyclone. A scroll or orb's tooltip says what you still lack, in red.
WhySo a wizard can teleport over walls, and so axes and maces are worth carrying.

The Moo Helper
A hunting helper
OriginalSeasons 0 to 2 had no helper.
Moo ClassicFrom level 20, the Moo Helper (Z to start, Shift + Z to set up) hunts, picks up the items you choose, drinks potions, repairs worn gear and keeps your buffs up. Roam hunts around the hero over an area you size. Follow party leader keeps it at the leader's side. Return home brings it back to a spot you set. It fights back at anything that hits you, finishes the monster it hurt, and leaves your own dropped items alone. An Elf heals herself first, then the party.
WhyHelp for long hunts. It costs zen by the minute, and the more it does, the more it costs: "the more help the more expensive".
Golden Member
A membership for the whole account, for 1, 3, 7 or 30 days.
- +35%experience
- +15%item drops
- +25%zen
- Every character on the account gets the bonus.
- A small gold crown stands beside your name over your head and in chat, gold sparkles circle your feet, and the status row shows its own icon with the time left.
- It can be bought with Moo Gold earned by selling to other players in Devias.
The Moo Gold shop
The X key opens the shop. It sells time and convenience. Items come from playing, so what a farmer finds keeps its worth.
Golden Cowbell
Moo ClassicWhile you hunt, your own Golden Moo appears about once every one to two hours of hunting.
WhyIt pays only while you play: it "incentivises active play".
Stat scrolls
Moo ClassicDefense, damage, spell damage, mana and attack speed for 5 days. The damage and defense scrolls work against monsters only, never in PvP or a duel, and their bonus shrinks as you level.
WhyA boost for hunting, not a bought win over other players.
Luck and convenience
Moo ClassicThe Charm of Luck adds to upgrade and mix chances. The Lucky Clover brings more event boxes. The Scroll of Taunt pulls nearby monsters onto you. The PK Clear Scroll and the Stat Reset.
WhyNo boxes and no tradeable items for money, so the shop never floods the market.
Goblin Points
Moo ClassicPoints earned by playing buy the tickets for Devil Square and Blood Castle.
WhyPlaying pays for the events.

The wiki in the game
Wiki and Look up
OriginalLook it up on a forum.
Moo ClassicThe Command Window's Wiki button opens the Moo Classic Wiki.
Look up turns the pointer into an eye: click a monster, NPC or item and its page opens. The wiki's numbers are
read from the game server, so what you read is what the game does. /ask, a guide that answers questions
from the wiki in the game, is coming soon.
WhyAnswers where you play, and always right.
Looks and options
Enhanced effects
OriginalThe classic look.
Moo ClassicOne switch adds northern lights over Devias, rain and thunder, stronger sandstorms in Tarkan, Icarus' clouds, a gold glow on golden monsters, and hit sounds that land with their damage numbers. Off, the game looks as the original did.
WhyMore atmosphere, with the original look one click away.
Repainted icons
OriginalSmall icons.
Moo ClassicEvery skill and status icon repainted from its original at a far larger size, in a rough painted style, plus our own icons for Golden Member, the Cowbell, the Clover and Ale.
WhyNot an upscale: the same icons drawn again, with more detail, sharp on a large screen.
Options of our own
OriginalOne volume bar.
Moo ClassicFour volume sliders on a computer (Master, Music, Sound effects, Area sound), frame rate and 3D resolution on every device, Keep computer awake, Show player names, Wheel zoom, Tap inspects on touch screens, and Don't download sound.
WhyYour device, your settings.
The loading screen
OriginalA still picture.
Moo ClassicThe same loading screen on every device: the logo, a tip, and your own hero on the floor while the map loads.
WhyA start that feels like Moo Classic on every device.
Small things that add up
- Right-click a bag item to sell it to an open shop or move it into the vault, a trade or the mix box.
- Buff icons along the top edge with their time left; Ale shows there too.
- "N Zen Obtained" for every zen pile you pick up, beside the experience lines.
- The target bar grows to fit long monster names.
- The character window shows your full damage and defense, buffs and scrolls included.
- When the server drops you, a Reconnect button takes you back to the login; the server list has Refresh.
- The News window in the game and on the login screen.
- Item tooltips stay on screen on a phone or tablet.
Progressive classic
All of this is in the open beta. Moo Classic opens Season 0 first, then Season 1, then Season 2 when the Dark Lord joins. Details can still change before the Grand Opening.
Chat, party and the Command Window
Global Chat
OriginalChat reaches the players near you.
Moo ClassicGlobal Chat reaches every player from level 10, with channels for chatting, selling, buying and looking for a party. A new chat window has tabs per channel, unread counts, settings and see-through levels.
WhyOne server, every device: everyone should be able to find each other.
Party Rules
OriginalZen goes to whoever picks it up.
Moo ClassicThe party leader chooses: zen shared out equally, or kept by the picker. The leader can hand the party to another member and let players ask to join. Every member hears the rules.
WhyEach party plays its own way.
The Command Window
OriginalThe D window with a few player commands.
Moo ClassicPlayer and Guild tabs, Request to Join a party, Global Chat, the Wiki and Look up.
WhyEverything you do with other players in one place, on a phone too.
The TAB map, pings and pins
OriginalThe map with its fixed markers.
Moo ClassicThe TAB map zooms and shows the warp gates and NPCs by name; a gate names the map it leads to. Ping a spot for your party or set a pin that stays 15 minutes.
WhyFind your way, and show your party where to go.
Towns with their own currency
OriginalPersonal stores sell for zen.
Moo ClassicPersonal stores in Devias and Devias Wasteland sell for Moo Gold, Lorencia's for Jewels of Bless, everywhere else for zen. A line tells you on arrival.
WhyA farmer can sell their finds for Moo Gold and buy Golden Member without paying: players who buy and players who farm both win.
