In short: your gear wears out as you fight. Below half durability it gets weaker, and at 0 it gives nothing at all. A repair at a merchant puts it back to full for a small amount of zen. Mending it yourself costs 2.5 times as much.
What wears and when
| Item |
Wears when |
| Weapon, staff, bow |
You hit with it |
| Helm, armour, pants, gloves, boots, shield |
A monster or player hits you |
| Rings and pendants |
Slowly, all the time you wear them outside a safe zone |
| Wings and capes |
Never in Moo Classic. Hits do not wear them and neither does time |
Guardian Angel, Imp, Horn of Uniria, Horn of Dinorant |
Each hit that damages you. See Damage and defense |
Dark Horse, Dark Raven |
Each hit that damages you. See Pets and mounts |
The number shown in an item's description is its durability now and at most, for example Durability: 34/45.

What the item still gives |
| More than half |
Everything |
| Below half, a yellow icon |
80 % |
| Less than 30 %, an orange icon |
70 % |
| Less than 20 %, a light red icon |
50 % |
| 0, a red icon |
Nothing. The item stays in its slot but adds no damage, defense or options |
The cut applies to a weapon's damage, a staff's wizardry rise, an armour piece's defense and defense rate, a shield's defense, and the item's own options and excellent and ancient bonuses. Wear does not cut the options of rings and pendants.
When one of your worn pieces reaches half, its yellow icon appears at the right edge of the screen, two to a column, coloured as in the table. Point at an icon to read the item's name and its durability.
Example: a Knight Blade with 100 maximum durability deals full damage down to 50. At 49 it deals 80 % of its damage, at 29 it deals 70 %, at 19 half, and at 0 nothing. One repair brings it back to 100 and full damage.
Higher items last longer

| A +13 item |
32 more than at +0 |
| Excellent |

Where to repair
- Open the merchant's shop. Your bag opens beside it.
- Press the Repair button or L. The pointer becomes a hammer.
- Click a worn item to repair it. Shift + L repairs everything you wear at once.
The price shows when you point at the item in repair mode, before you pay. Pets in the pet slot are repaired only at a merchant, and the Dark Lord's pets have their own repair at the Pet Trainer.
What a repair costs
- A pricier item costs more to repair. Low gear costs a few hundred zen, a worn pair of high wings over 40,000.
- The cost grows with the wear. Half worn costs half of what fully worn costs.
- A broken item, at 0, costs 1.4 times more. A broken Dark Horse or Dark Raven costs 2 times more.
- Mending it yourself or through the Moo Helper costs 2.5 times the merchant's price.
Example: a +3 Leather Armor at 16 of 33 durability costs 250 zen to repair at Hanzo, and 630 zen to mend yourself.
Items that break for good
What Moo Classic changed
| Change |
What you notice |
| Wings never wear out |
A repaired wing stays at full, so its repair bill never comes back |
| A repair stays full |
A repaired ring or pendant shows its full number until a whole point has worn away |
| Guardian Angel |
Wears at half the old speed, about 85 hits instead of 42 |
| Worn-gear icons |
Every piece at half or less shows its icon and its durability on hover |
Tips
- Repair in town when you restock potions. A merchant repair is the cheapest.
- Do not wait for the red icon. A half-worn weapon already deals 20 % less.
- Tick Repair in the Moo Helper for long hunts. It mends at the yellow mark.
- Carry spare zen. Your bag zen also pays for death losses, see Death.
